WWE RAW Results – May 9, 2016
WWE invades the Century Link Center in Ohama, NE for this week’s episode of WWE RAW.
– Chris Jericho comes out to open the show with The Highlight Reel. He cuts a promo on Ambrose until Big Cass comes out to interrupt. Cass calls Jericho sawft and delivers a big boot to Y2J to finish up the segment.
– Jericho approaches Stephanie McMahon in the back and demands a match against Big Cass. She makes the match for tonight.
– Baron Corbin def. Dolph Ziggler: They go back and forth both inside and outside the ring in the opening moments. Ziggler takes advantage of Corbin showing off to the crowd with a couple roll-ups for near-falls. Ziggler hits a splash in the corner, but Corbin comes back after dropping Ziggler onto the top turnbuckle and hitting the End of Days for the win.
– Backstage, Charlotte and Flair talk to Shane McMahon and want him to put Stephanie in her place. Shane says Stephanie’s decisions will stand, and that Flair is banned from ringside tonight. Flair says he can’t believe Shane and Stephanie are getting along.
– Jojo is backstage to interview AJ Styles, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows. Styles says he took the high road instead of beating Reigns down with a chair last week. He says he won’t hesitate to take Reigns out now, and tonight “the club” is officially back together.
– Paige def. Charlotte: Charlotte comes out without her father, as per Shane McMahon’s orders. During the match, Natalya comes out to the ring which prompts Flair to come out against Shane’s orders. Flair starts yelling at Natalya, but is interrupted by Shane McMahon who comes out with some referees and they escort Flair away. Charlotte, distracted by her father being carried away, gets quickly rolled up from behind by Paige for the 1-2-3 for the finish.
– Sami Zayn def. The Miz: If Zayn wins, he gets a spot at the IC Title match at Extreme Rules. Several minutes into the match, Sami gets out of a Figure Four and hits a Michinoku Driver for a 2 count. The Miz eventually does lock in his Figure Four hold, but Zayn gets out. The Miz tries using the ropes for the leverage on a pin, but only gets 2. As The Miz is arguing with the referee, Sami comes back with an exploder and a Helluva Kick for the win.
– In the back, Kevin Owens complains about Sami Zayn being in the IC Title match at Extreme Rules. Zack Ryder says he deserves a part in the match. Shane says the two will have a match tonight, and the winner gets a spot in the Fatal 4 Way match for the IC Title at Extreme Rules on 5/22.
– Roman Reigns is in his locker room talking to The Usos. He says tonight is about two things: Getting a win against The Club, and representing their bloodline. Reigns says he personally will eliminate AJ Styles in tonight’s six-man elimination match.
– Sin Cara def. Rusev: Kalisto is at ringside for this one. Rusev starts off beating Sin Cara down in the corner with a series of knees. Rusev keeps the pace slow with a bear hug and fallaway slam. Rusev gets distracted staring down Kalisto, and Sin Cara comes back with a DDT and a springboard crossbody. He misses a senton bomb and eats a big boot from Rusev, but Rusev then gets distracted by Kalisto again. Lana distracts the referee and Kalisto hits a kick on Rusev, allowing Sin Cara to roll him up for the 1-2-3.
– The Usos & Roman Reigns def. The Club via DQ: Anderson and Jey start things off going back and forth. Gallows hits an illegal right hand on Jey from the outside, and Anderson rolls him up for the 1-2-3 and Jey has been eliminated. Gallows and Reigns get in the ring and go back and forth, but Jimmy and Anderson quickly get the tags. Jimmy rolls up Anderson while the Club member is talking trash and gets the 1-2-3. Anderson is eliminated. Gallows gets some offense in on Reigns but after a couple minutes he walks into a Superman punch from Reigns for the 3. Gallows is eliminated. Styles hits the ring and immediately goes to work on Reigns with right hands then drops him with a Pele kick. He throws Reigns to the outside and follows up with a flying forearm over the top to the outside onto the Champion. AJ gets the announce table ready, but Reigns comes back and throws him over it into the announcers’ chairs. Reigns sets up AJ for a powerbomb, but Karl Anderson comes out of nowhere with a steel chair and lays out Reigns for the DQ. The Usos come out for the save. Reigns lays out Anderson and Gallows, then Styles comes back in and lays out Reigns. He goes to give Reigns a Styles Clash onto a chair, but Reigns gets out. Reigns and AJ stare each other down to close out the segment.
– Kevin Owens def. Zack Ryder: Ryder scores a couple near-falls in the opening moments. Owens misses a cannonball in the corner, and Ryder smashes him with a forearm shot at ringside then kicks him in the face. Back in the ring, Ryder hits an elbow off the top for another 2. Owens comes back with a superkick and a pop up powerbomb for the 3 count.
– The Dudley Boyz def. The New Day: Before the match, The New Day comes out and cuts a promo about their upcoming match with The Vaudevillians at Extreme Rules. The Dudleys control things early on. Big E gets the tag and clears the ring. He works on D-Von in the corner and takes turns stomping on him with Kofi. The Vaudevillains run out and attack Xavier at ringside. This distracts Big E and he gets laid out by Bubba. Back in the ring, D-Von hits Kofi with a big clothesline for the 3 count. The Vaudevillains beat down The New day after the match.
– Chris Jericho vs. Big Cass: During Jericho’s entrance while the lights are out, Dean Ambrose lays out Jericho and puts his jacket on and goes into the ring. Jericho is laying on the entrance ramp screaming at him. Jericho screams at Ambrose that it’s a $15,000 jacket, so Ambrose rips it up and tears out the lights. Jericho hits the ring and they brawl all over the ring. Jericho takes his jacket and examines it at ringside, but quickly walks into Big Cass. Jericho slaps him in the face, so Cass slams him into the fan barricade then back into the ring, where Ambrose gives him the Dirty Deeds. Ambrose continues to destroy Jericho’s jacket, then heads to the back. Jericho mourns the loss of his jacket in the ring to close out the show.
– In the back, Shane and Stephanie McMahon are watching on a monitor and commenting on Jericho’s $15,000 jacket. Shane thanks Stephanie for her attitude change and says they’re doing a good job together. Shane walks away and Stephanie stares at the photo of him and Vince.
