WATCH: Joe Biden goes viral after SHOCKING All Blacks gaffe in Ireland

US President Joe Biden was left red-faced in Ireland when he confused the All Blacks with the Black and Tans.

Biden was speaking in a pub in Dundalk and made the gaffe when he paid tribute to his distant relative, Rob Kearney.

Kearney started Ireland‘s historic first win over New Zealand in 2016 at Soldier Field in Chicago.

Joe Biden’s gaffe

Biden publicly thanked the former Leinster and Ireland full-back for presenting him with a tie and referred to Ireland’s famous 40-29 over the All Blacks.

“This was given to me by one of these guys, right here, who was a hell of a rugby player,” Biden said.

Adding: “He [Kearney] beat the hell out of the Black and Tans.”

His gaffe was not lost on the crowd, with the 80-year-old mistakenly referring New Zealand’s rugby team as the Black and Tans.

The Black and Tans was a notorious group of British reserve troops infamous for attacks on civilians, extrajudicial murders, arson and looting last century.

It did not take long for the US president to fall victim to the memes and be ripped to shreds on social media.
