WATCH: Former WWE Superstar & Divas Champion Celeste Bonin Returns to the Ring After 4 Years Away

Celeste Bonin, a former WWE Divas Champion and NXT season three winner who wrestled under the name Kaitlyn, made her return to the ring this weekend for the Coastal Championship Wrestling promotion after more than four years away from the business.

The 31-year-old bodybuilder, model and entrepreneur was released from her contract with WWE in 2014 and never worked another match again until this past Saturday night. In her time away she’s launched a women’s fitness apparel line, modeled, contributed to fitness blogs, and even opened a smoothie bar with her now-ex husband. Just a few weeks ago Celeste admitted that she “never really intended on wrestling again.”

I never really intended on wrestling again. I just starting training again because it’s been extremely therapeutic and has ignited my passion again. I want to thank Pablo for welcoming me to his family. It’s been almost four years since I stepped into the ring. This year has been super pivotal for me. I’ve discovered a lot of things about myself and spent so much time deciding who and what I want to be. I’m a lot of things. I’m an entrepreneur, a pro wrestler, a mess, and an unstoppable freight train. There’s so much i want to accomplish and have so much unfinished business.

It’s potentially worth nothing that Bonin did specifically say this one-off return to the squared circle doesn’t mean she’s planning to come back full-time, or even do more shows at all, calling this weekend a “symbolic match”. At 31 considering the shape she’s in and that she left the company on good terms, you would think the door for a WWE return would be open if she wanted it.

Many expected Kaitlyn to be a part of last month’s fist ever WWE Women’s Royal Rumble, which did see the surprise of many big names including Beth Phoenix, Trish Stratus, Molly Holly, Torrie Wilson, Lita, Miss Jackie and Kelly Kelly.
