University of Minnesota Coaches Corner – February 17, 2016

In the latest trip to the Coach’s Corner, University of Minnesota Head Assistant Coach Brandon Eggum covers a variety of topics in a short amount of time.

After offering some insight into recent lineup decisions at 125 and 133 pounds, Eggum looks back at last Friday’s dual against Illinois. The Gophers split their 10 matches with the Illini, including a major decision from Michael Kroells at heavyweight and a huge upset for Nick Wanzek over No. 4 Zac Brunson at 174 pounds. Brunson is the highest-ranked opponent Wanzek has defeated in his Gopher career.

In addition to looking back, Eggum also looks ahead, offering a preview of this Friday’s match against Iowa State (7:30 p.m. at Williams Arena). He also offers a look at Gopher alumni who have qualified for April’s U.S. Olympic Team Trials and others who will hope to qualify in the coming weeks.

Coach’s Corner is a weekly series that debuts every Wednesday. Fans can find the latest episodes on GopherSports.com and on the 2015-16 Gopher Wrestling playlist on YouTube.
