Trump Tower Heists Lift $353K In Jewelry From 2 Apartments: Cops

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A small fortune’s worth of jewelry was stolen from two Trump Tower residences earlier this month, the NYPD said. Police say they’re investigating the thefts, which were reported just about two weeks before President Donald Trump’s return to New York City for the United Nations General Assembly.

Cops heard of the first heist on Sept. 9, when a 67-year-old woman said $236,000 in jewelry was missing from a drawer in her apartment in the Republican president’s namesake building at 721 Fifth Ave., according to the NYPD.

The woman had been away from home since mid-June and realized upon returning that she’d been robbed of necklaces, earrings, a bracelet and a ring, police said. Diamonds were included in her jewelry stash, according to an NYPD spokesperson.

A second woman in the tower reported a $117,000 diamond bracelet stolen two days later on Sept. 11, the NYPD said. The 33-year-old tenant similarly told cops that she discovered the jewelry missing upon returning to her home, which she had left on Sept. 4, according to police.

Cops have not yet identified any suspects in the thefts, which are being probed by the NYPD’s Major Case Squad, police said. The New York Post first reported the heists on Sunday.

President Trump is reportedly staying at his namesake tower, where he owns the penthouse unit, during this week’s United Nations General Assembly. The Queens-born commander-in-chief is expected to address escalating tensions with Iran in a Tuesday speech to the international gathering, according to the Associated Press.
