Tomas Maier receives Forum Preis award
Tomas Maier, in the midst of prepping for the opening of the largest Bottega Veneta store in the world in Tokyo’s Ginza district, was honored by German trade magazine TextilWirschraft with this year’s Forum Preis award, which recognizes creativity and excellence in design, on May 9 at Heidelberg’s Print Media Academy. The native German, and Bottega Veneta creative director, is the first fashion designer to receive the award.
“It’s especially moving to receive this award in Germany, where I was born and raised, and in the company of so many esteemed designers and business leaders,” Maier said in a statement. “The Forum’s commitment to our industry, and to the support of young designers, has made an important difference to the world of design. I think that Bottega Veneta, with its Italian heritage, German-born creative director, French chairman, and international customers, reflects the future of our community.”
