Tamil Nadu Leads The Chart As 1.8 Lakh Children Live In Child Care Institutions; Over 3.7 Lakh In Need Of Special Care

Close to 1.8 lakh children are residing in child care institutions (CCI) in 2016-17 after their parents were found unfit to take care of them. More than 50,000 minors were alone from Tamil Nadu, says a report released on Monday.

The report by the Jena Committee on Child Care Institutions, the Juvenile Justice Act, said that more than 3.7 lakh children are lodged in homes meant for care of children in vulnerable circumstances across the country in 2016-17.

A child whose parents or guardian are found to be unfit or incapacitated by the committee or the board to care or protect them, is deemed to be in need of protection.Click Here: COLLINGWOOD MAGPIES 2019
