Ryan Gosling Honors “Unparalleled Talent” Debbie Reynolds with a Heartfelt Speech
On Monday evening, Ryan Gosling made our hearts throb in a very different way. The actor accepted the Vanguard Award on behalf of La La Land at the 2017 Palm Springs International Film Festival, and used his speech as an opportunity to honor one of his idols, the late Debbie Reynolds.
“I wish I could have said this in person, but I’d like to thank Debbie Reynolds for her wonderful career of work,” he said. “She was an inspiration to us every day. We watched Singin’ in the Rain every day for inspiration and [she was] a truly unparalleled talent. So, thank you to her for all of that inspiration.”
Reynolds, who sang and danced our way into our hears in the 1952 classic, passed away on Dec. 28, just one day after her beloved daughter Carrie Fisher died. On Monday, Fisher’s daughter Billie Lourd spoke out for the first time after their passing, writing, “There are no words to express how much I will miss my Abadaba and my one and only Momby. Your love and support means the world to me.”
