Rey Mysterio Becomes Grand Slam Champion At WWE Money In The Bank

While this may have flown under the radar with all the major news coming out of Sunday night’s WWE Money in the Bank pay-per-view, Rey Mysterio defeated Samoa Joe in a short match, to become the WWE United States Champion for the first time in historic career.
The bout was not dissimilar to their WrestleMania interaction, in which Joe shocked the world by submitting the lucha legend in around 30 seconds. However, this time it was the Master of the 619 that scored the surprise pin in just one minute and 40 seconds.
With this victory, Mysterio joins the ranks of WWE Grand Slam Champions who have won the top world title (Mysterio is a former WWE Champion and World Heavyweight Champion), a tag team title (4-time WWE Tag Team Champion), and two midcard titles (2-time Intercontinental Champion and United States Champion).
