Real-Life Couple John Krasinski and Emily Blunt Are Co-Starring in a Horror Movie—Watch the Trailer

With the first trailer for A Quiet Place comes the first concrete plot details about Emily Blunt‘s film role opposite her husband, John Krasinski.

Paramount Pictures kept the story line for this supernatural thriller under wraps as casting was announced. Now we find the two actors— along with Noah Jupe (Suburbicon) and Millicent Simmonds (Wonderstruck)—portraying a family living on a remote farm as they’re terrorized by some unseen threat.

Simmonds, who’s deaf in real life, plays a deaf child in A Quiet Place. The footage begins from her perspective with no dialogue and little sound beyond eerie wisps of wind, muted chimes, and dissonant chords. The family remains as quiet as they can. Simmonds is seen walking on designated marks on the floor, presumably to not creak any floorboards; the family signs to each other to communicate; even their Monopoly pieces are replaced with soft materials to avoid banging them against the game board. The dice, too, are rolled on carpet, not any hard surface.

When Jupe’s character accidentally knocks over their lamp, the shattering glass draws the attention of something sinister.

“Listen closely, move carefully, and never make a sound. If they can’t hear you, they can’t hunt you,” reads the tagline.
