Norris: Every single F1 driver stands united against racism
McLaren’s Lando Norris says the entire F1 driver community stands united against racism, insisting the group will show its support in a more organized way next weekend at Silverstone.
Drivers came together before first three races of the 2020 season to convey a message of support for more diversity in the sport while taking a stance against racism.
However, the display was a bit of a rushed and chaotic affair in Hungary, with several drivers joining in late, or not at all, on the pre-anthem disordered gathering.

Hamilton pleads with fans not to head to Silverstone
Lewis Hamilton who has led the ‘take a knee’ ceremonial since the start of the season has urged Formula 1 to do a better job in giving the drivers a platform, especially as the sport’s chiefs have committed to fighting for diversity.
Formula 1 has taken Hamilton’s remarks into consideration and has inserted a formal moment of gathering of the drivers in Sunday’s pre-race schedule.
“We have the ability to have a big impact on millions of fans and we have got to do everything we can,” Norris told Sky Sports News ahead of this weekend’s British Grand Prix.
“We must admit maybe last weekend [in Hungary] nothing went as we expected. I think we have to admit that.
“But it’s something that we’ll continue and we’ll work on for the next one we will do a much better job in.”
Regardless of whether a driver chooses to take a knee or not, everyone is on the same page when it comes to the message insisted Norris.
“We all stand united – every single driver,” he said. “When we are in our briefings together, we all have great meanings and we all mean for everything to be right and everyone to get the rightful and equal opportunities.
“It was not our fault, let’s say as drivers, what happened last weekend but we all stand for the right thing and I think it’s important we do continue to do that for as long as we have to until there’s change and we have given the impact we intend on doing.”
