Newcastle interest confirmed by Samuel Umtiti’s brother

Contacted by our colleagues at Foot 01, Lyon central defender Samuel Umtiti’s brother and representative Yannick Umtiti confirmed an interest on the part of Newcastle for the French youth international’s services.

He had the following to say:

“I was contacted in recent weeks by English agents who discussed the idea of Newcastle. But honestly, not a single concrete offer has been made at this point by an English club… We would consider if necessary an offer from Newcastle and the interest of clubs who will eventually position themselves this summer. But we prefer overwhelmingly the best footballing project, which today appears at least to me to be the one offered by Lyon.”
