Maharashtra Shows The Way As Milk Producers To Recollect And Recycle Used Plastic Pouches
November 28, 2019
Maharashtra, which since 2018 has imposed one of the toughest restriction on the use of plastic in the country has taken yet another step that can other states can follow.
Ever since the ban which came into effect last year, production, sale and use of almost all single-use plastic items like carry-bags and PET bottles has taken a hit.
One of the ‘exemptions’ given was for the plastic pouches used to pack milk. Even though the government had then asked milk producers to come up with a buyback scheme, wherein the customers will be refunded upon returning used milk packets to the vendors, it was never implemented.
