Kofi’s Win in Ghana, Cross Says She’s ‘Free,’ Kim Reacts to Banks

At WrestleMania 35 earlier in the month, Kofi Kingston was able to defeat Daniel Bryan to become WWE Champion for the first time in his long career with WWE. It was an emotional night for Kingston and his fans, but it turned into an evening of celebration following his title win. Kingston shared a video that was sent to him by his mother on Instagram which showed how people in Ghana reacted to the victory. Kingston was born in Ghana, and given that he is now the first African-born WWE Champion, the people in the country were thrilled to see The New Day member win. Kingston mentioned that he hasn’t been to his home country since 1994, but the video sent to him by his mother may have inspired him to visit the area in the near future.

My mom sent me this video clip from the small town of Techiman in Ghana. Last Sunday, my uncle had a gathering at his house where the townspeople could watch Wrestlemania. • In seeing this, I am overcome with pride and joy. I’m still blown away by how many lives we touched. This video is a reminder of why we do what we do: to lift spirits and inspire others. I am so grateful to be in a position to do so. • Last time I was in Ghana was in 1994. I think it might be time to go back and visit… • #wrestlemania #wwe #ghana #sankofa #yearofthereturn #inspire

Nikki Cross has not been part of WWE’s main roster for too long, but she has been appearing on Raw and SmackDown over the past couple of weeks. Cross posted a video on her official YouTube channel recently wherein she claims that she is now “free.” The Scottish wrestler did not state what it is that she has been freed from exactly, but perhaps it refers to being freed from NXT, or maybe she means it metaphorically. Either way, Cross does not have a WWE brand assigned to her at the moment. That is expected to change during either tonight’s Raw or tomorrow’s SmackDown due to the Superstar Shakeup. For right now though, those interested in checking out Cross’s bizarre new video may do so down below:

Impact Wrestling’s Gail Kim has been critical of WWE in the past, but there is no denying her status as a legendary performer in the women’s wrestling scene. Naturally, fans were curious to see what her thoughts are on the rumors claiming that Sasha Banks attempted to quit WWE during WrestleMania 35. Kim wrote on Twitter that she has heard the same rumors that the fans have, but she has chosen not to believe them until some sort of action is taken. Kim also took another shot at WWE by referencing the fact that their performers are labeled as independent contractors. Numerous wrestling promotions would likely be interested in working with Banks if she does leave WWE, so perhaps a feud between Banks and Kim isn’t too far off now.

I’m hearing rumors but I don’t believe anything until it’s done …. https://t.co/9YhlBv3s7x
