Injury boosts (including at 10) as Lam welcomes host of players back to Connacht training

CONNACHT HEAD COACH Pat Lam will welcome two out-halves back to training this week as he prepares the squad for a defining clash away to Toulouse.

The western province will need at least a losing bonus point to advance to the quarter-finals, but multiple injuries left them operating with John Cooney as a makeshift number 10 for the weekend trouncing of Zebre.

However, today’s injury report from the Sportsground has both Jack Carty and Shane O’Leary down for a return to training this week after their respective knee and concussion issues.

Also being reintegrated into Lam’s squad will be Ronan Loughney, Jake Heenan, Eoghan Masterson (all knee),  Nepia Fox Matamua (chest), Quinn Roux (groin) and Peter Robb (concussion).

Ultan Dillane is still rehabilitating his ankle injury, but will take a limited part in this week’s sessions.

Denis Buckley’s foot injury sustained against Zebre will continue to be monitored by the province’s medics while Josh Rowland will miss around two months after picking up a knee injury on Connacht Eagles duty.
