Here’s What Meghan Markle’s Royal Title Will Be

Meghan Markle is set to marry into the British royal family when she weds Prince Harry next spring. While we can say for certain that these two look adorable together, there’s one thing we don’t know for sure: What title Markle will take when she becomes a royal herself?

Like Kate Middleton, Markle will not become a princess when she marries one of Princess Diana’s sons. But she will be given a title, and royal watchers have their bets on the Duchess of Sussex.

When Middleton married Prince William in 2011, Queen Elizabeth gave them the royal titles of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. As the next in line to the throne, William will likely become the Prince of Wales when his dad, Prince Charles, become the King of England.

Harry is just two years younger than his big brother, but he’s fifth in line to the throne after William and Kate’s children Prince George and Princess Charlotte. When they give birth to a third child this spring, Harry will lose his place to sixth in line.

Royal insiders believe that when Harry marries Markle this spring, he’ll be given the title of Duke of Sussex, which would make the Suits star the Duchess of Sussex.

While their titles aren’t certain, their place of residence is. Clarence House confirmed on Monday that Harry and Meghan will move in together in Nottingham Cottage, the royal’s two-bedroom residence in London’s Kensington Palace. According to insiders, the duo may one day move into Apartment 1 at the palace, a 21-room residence that could be perfect for raising a family.
