Here's How to Win 1 Million JetBlue Points
>
Want to win several vacations’ worth of airline points? Of course you do. By donating $10 to the Kelly Gang, a New York City–based charity that raises money in support of a new organization every year, you could win one million JetBlue points. That’s the equivalent of approximately $13,000 in travel funds. Plus the winner receives a trip to New York City with comped accommodations and airfare to consult with Brian Kelly, the penny-pinching travel guru better known as the Points Guy, about how to maximize the winnings.
To enter, all you have to do is donate by April 30 on Prizeo, a website that partners with charities and celebrities to run fundraising raffles. The minimum donation of $10 earns you 100entries, donations of $75 and $150 will get you 750 and 1,500 entries, respectively, and a $2,500 donation yields—you guessed it—25,000 entries plus a half-hour Skype session to talk airfare strategies with Kelly.
Kelly, a former HR employee with Morgan Stanley, teamed up with the Kelly Gang—a group of philanthropic folks who happen to all share the last name (it’s a long story)—for this year’s campaign. The recipient is the Cristo Rey New York High School, a multi-faith Catholic school dedicated to educating low-income students. Since 2000, the organization has raised more than $900,000 for a wide variety of local, national, and global organizations, including the Wounded Warrior Project and the Breezy Point Disaster Relief Fund, which was founded in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.
Meanwhile, if you happen to win, it’s worth dreaming big. JetBlue’s TrueBlue points never expire, have no blackout dates, and can be redeemed for you and a plus one. The airline flies to most major U.S. cities, Central and South America, and the Caribbean. The Points Guy reckons that a million points could be stretched into as many as 500 domestic one-way trips or about a dozen international round-trips. Either way, it could be your ticket to the kinds of vacations we all dream about, and your average Points Guy fan will lose sleep thinking through all the possibilities.
Our dream? Hopping on a flight to Cancun and heading south to Mukan Resort, a new eco-adventure lodge situated on the coast of Mexico’s Riviera Maya in the 1.3-million-acre Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve. After flying to San José, Costa Rica, we’ll use the money we’re saving to meet up with Origen Escapes for a bespoke rafting trip on the Pacuare River beneath the Talamanca Mountain Range. From there it's south to Bogotá… well, you get the idea.
Keep your eyes peeled for the winner announcement in early May.
