GAA, FAI and IRFU share €7.4 million government investment
SPORT IRELAND HAS today announced an investment of €7.4 million for the three main ‘field sport’ governing bodies for developing their youth development.

The FAI will receive the largest portion, with €2.7 million going to the football governing body. The GAA will receive €2.4 million, while the IRFU will take in €2.36 million.
Included in the numbers for the FAI and IRFU is an investment from the Women in Sport programme of €142,000 for football and €114,000 for rugby.
The announcement follows €19.1 million in National Governing Bodies, €1.8m in direct athlete investment and €5.4m to support the network of local sports partnerships.
The announcement was made at the new conference centre within the National Sports Campus, where CEO John Treacy said:
“Sport Ireland shares a common goal with the GAA, IRFU and FAI to increase participation in sport and physical activity.
“Today’s investment highlights Sport Ireland’s strategic aim of increasing participation from every age group and from all social backgrounds throughout Ireland, removing barriers that prevent participation in sport.”
