Dean Ambrose reportedly gives notice, leaving WWE at end of April
One of the most prominent members of the WWE roster over the last several years could be on his way out of the company.
Pro Wrestling Torch reported overnight that Dean Ambrose has given notice to WWE that he will be finishing up with the company when his contract expires at the end of April. The report noted that Ambrose broke the news to management over the weekend after being offered a new contract and a raise weeks ago.
The report stated that Ambrose is expected to finish up shortly after WrestleMania, but it’s possible that WWE could write him out of storylines sooner than that.
PWTorch’s report went on to say: “Sources tell PWTorch that Ambrose has been long frustrated with the creative direction of his character and reached a breaking point recently. He’s indicated to WWE management this weekend he’s not interested in negotiating further and made it clear this isn’t about trying to get more money.”
Ambrose was eliminated by Aleister Black in Sunday’s men’s Royal Rumble match. Ambrose appeared on last night’s Raw, interrupting Triple H and Seth Rollins in the opening segment before losing a match against Rollins.
After Ambrose’s match with Rollins on Raw, there was a post-match angle where Ambrose sat in a chair in the ring and was going to speak on the microphone. Nia Jax and Tamina came out for their Elimination Chamber qualifying match, Jax went face-to-face with Ambrose, and Jax struck Ambrose and sent him out of the ring when he turned away from her.
WWE uploaded a post-Raw video where Ambrose said he was going to assume that Jax tripped and fell into him and wasn’t trying to start a physical altercation.
