Contract Signing on Smackdown, No WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles

What started as a friendly but competitive feud between AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE Championship has now turned into a bitter and personal feud. After Nakamura turned on AJ at WrestleMania by giving him a low blow, they have had several more matches but have none have been able to determine a decisive winner. They will face off for the title again one more time at Money in the Bank in a Last Man Standing match, but before that happens, there will be a contract signing for the match on Smackdown this Tuesday night. Smackdown General Manager Paige confirmed that the segment will taking place this Tuesday night on Twitter over the weekend.

Home, but always working for #SDLive. This Tuesday, we will sign the contract for the #WWEChampionship match at #MITB…and I will be PERSONALLY overseeing it. pic.twitter.com/LeKfG0LQmH

WWE has made a ton of improvements over the years when it comes to their women’s division. The company has recently given their female performers their own Royal Rumble match, Money in the Bank ladder match, Elimination Chamber match, and there has reportedly even been discussions of having a women’s match headline WrestleMania within the next few years. However, some fans have been wondering whether or not the women’s division will be given a set of tag team titles. There are tag team belts for both the Raw and Smackdown brands right now for the male competitors, but there is only one Women’s Championship for the women to compete for on each show.

It has been rumored for a while now that WWE has been discussing the idea of finally adding tag team titles to the women’s division. Some of the women in WWE have been teasing the introduction of such titles on social media lately, and with The IIconics, The Riott Squadd, and other teams now on both brands, there is no shortage of teams to compete for the championships. However, according to Mike Johnson during PWInsider’s Elite Audio show, there are no plans to introduce tag team belts for the females in WWE. In fact, there has supposedly been no discussions about adding the titles at all within the company. It sounds like the Raw and Smackdown Women’s Championship titles will be the only prize for the women on each show for now.
