Christophe Galtier mirrors Carlo Ancelotti and counts Sergio Ramos as a key supporter

As reported by L’Équipe, new PSG coach Christophe Galtier’s early season success has been aided by his astute man management of the Paris squad and his star players.

After the 7-1 thrashing of Lille at the weekend, a committed, free-flowing, cohesive attacking display that the 2021 champions couldn’t live with, Galtier agreed to add a second rest day for his squad at the behest of his players – an example of his plan to maintain an open dialogue with the team.

Galtier, say the sports daily, always explains his decisions to his players and encourages discussion when something causes tension, and did not wait to speak with Neymar and Kylian Mbappé after their “penaltygate” incident against Montpellier with relations between the forwards frosty. As well as sporting director Luis Campos, who also spoke with both players, Sergio Ramos has become a key supporter of Galtier’s in the dispute, as he is close with both men, and generally within the dressing room as a senior voice.

Galtier meanwhile has been quick to praise all three of his star forwards in the press, including Lionel Messi, which has led to a happier group, a tactic that has helped former PSG coach Carlo Ancelotti in the past.
