Boston Red Sox Win World Series, Drop Los Angeles Dodgers

BOSTON, MA — The Red Sox are the best team in baseball, indeed. Boston beat the Dodgers, 5-1, Sunday night in Los Angeles to complete the most accomplished season in franchise history.

Boston won a franchise-record and MLB-leading 108 games in the regular season and rolled to a World Series title in five games against the National League champs. The Sox lost only three games in their playoff run, which also included dispatching the rival Yankees and defending World Series champion Astros.

It’s the fourth championship for Boston since 2004, when they broke an 86-year title drought.

Red Sox World Series Parade Date Set

Steve Pearce hit two home runs, including a two-run first-inning shot to give the Red Sox a lead they would never relinquish. Pearce won the World Series MVP.

Mookie Betts and J.D. Martinez added solo home runs.

David Price won his second start of the series, allowing only a leadoff home run to David Freese on the first pitch before finishing seven strong innings.

“I just want to say to everyone back home, this is the greatest Red Sox team in history,” Red Sox owner John Henry.

Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw allowed four runs in seven innings in what might have been his last start with the team. The 30-year-old lefthander bound for the Hall of Fame has a a contract option this offseason.
