Benfica lead Montpellier in the race for Fluminense attacker Yony González

Our reliable colleague Mohamed Toubache-TER reports that Portuguese giants Benfica currently lead Ligue 1 club Montpellier in a fight to sign versatile Colombian attacker Yony González.

González currently plays for Brazilian side Fluminense, who have a verbal agreement with Benfica over a January transfer. The Montpellier board several months ago sanctioned a pursuit of this 25-year-old winger and have some ground to make up if they are to change Fluminense’s mind.

González has represented Colombia at U23 level only in his career to date.
