Alexa Bliss Also Travels to Saudi Arabia; WWE Hoping to Add Women's Match
Multiple sources are reporting that Alexa Bliss is also en route to Saudi Arabia, joining fellow female wrestler Natalya as the only two women on the active roster to travel there for tomorrow’s Super Showdown event. While it is unclear what role they will play, Pro Wrestling Sheet notes that WWE officials are hopeful of adding a women’s match to the card ahead of the show. The report adds that WWE has been in discussions with the Saudi General Sports Authority for a few months to try and get approval for a women’s match to be a part of the PPV. As of this time, there hasn’t been an official green-light but the company is obviously still hopeful. WWE commentator Renee Young is also traveling with the roster just as she did for the event last fall.
A couple months ago, I reported that a company source told me that WWE held off on announcing a second annual all-women’s PPV because internally they were hoping to have the women compete later in the year at the November event in Saudi Arabia. Evidently with Natalya and Alexa Bliss in Saudi Arabia, this plan is still in motion even for the first 2019 PPV in the country.
