WWE Crown Jewel Results (10/31): Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

WWE makes their return to Saudi Arabia for the fourth event on their long-term partnership with Saudi Vision 2030 today, as the second event under the Crown Jewel chronology goes down from King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh.

The highly-anticipated event features the WWE in-ring debuts of combat sports legends Tyson Fury, who faces Braun Strowman, as well as Cain Velasquez, who battles Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship.

Also on the card is a Falls Count Anywhere Match pitting Seth Rollins against “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt for the WWE Universal Championship and the first-ever women’s match in Saudi history with Natalya going one-on-one against Lacey Evans.

WWE CROWN JEWEL KICKOFF SHOW RESULTS

The WWE Crown Jewel 2019 Kickoff Show from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia is now officially underway. Watch it as it happens live via the video embedded below.

The Kickoff Show pre-show for the WWE Crown Jewel 2019 event opens up with Scott Stanford, Charly Caruso, David Otunga and WWE Hall Of Famer Booker T welcoming us to King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from their television studio at WWE HQ in Stamford, CT.

Byron Saxton Interviews Ric Flair

The panel runs down some of the matches scheduled for today’s big event and then we shoot backstage where we see Byron Saxton with two-time WWE Hall Of Famer “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair. Flair talks about tonight’s Team Flair vs. Team Hogan match and promises that his team will be victorious at WWE Crown Jewel today.

20-Man Battle Royal For Shot At WWE U.S. Title

The first match on the WWE Crown Jewel Kickoff Show is now getting underway, as it is time for the 20-Man Battle Royal to determine the challenger for the WWE United States Championship bout with AJ Styles later in the show.

Featured in this match are: WWE 24/7 Champion Sunil Singh, Mojo Rawley, Erick Rowan, R-Truth, Sin Cara, The Brian Kendrick, Titus O’Neil, Tony Nese, Akira Tozawa, Shelton Benjamin, Apollo Crews, Buddy Murphy, Andrade, Drake Maverick, Eric Young, Luke Harper, Cedric Alexander, Heath Slater, Humberto Carrillo and No Way Jose.

This one is chaotic from start-to-finish. Near the conclusion of the contest, R-Truth actually pins Sunil Singh to recapture the WWE 24/7 Championship, making himself a 21-time WWE 24/7 Champion now.

As everyone chases Truth down, Humberto Carrillo takes advantage and dumps Erick Rowan as the last elimination to be the final man standing.

With the win, Carrillo moves on to face Styles for the U.S. Title later in the show. We see “The Phenomenal One,” the man he will challenge for the U.S. Title later in the show, watching on from a monitor backstage.

The New Day Talk Tag-Team Turmoil

We go to an interview segment with The New Day. The group talks about dealing with setbacks as of late, such as Xavier Woods being taken down with an Achilles tendon injury.

With that in mind, however, they do promise to be victorious in tonight’s Tag-Team Turmoil match for the WWE World Cup. The teams of Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler as well as Heavy Machinery say the same thing.

WWE CROWN JEWEL RESULTS

The video package opener for WWE Crown Jewel airs, focusing on the Fury-Strowman, Velasquez-Lesnar and Rollins-Wyatt matches, as well as the first-ever women’s match in Saudi Arabia in particular.

WWE Championship
Brock Lesnar (C) vs. Cain Velasquez

After we get our first PPV look inside King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Michael Cole welcomes us to WWE Crown Jewel 2019 as the camera pans around the arena.

From there, Brock Lesnar’s theme hits and the fans explode, as does a ton of fireworks and pyro as “The Beast Incarnate” makes his way to the wrong accompanied by Paul Heyman.

We shoot to the announce table of Michael Cole and Corey Graves. They introduce us to the Arabic announce team for the show. We shoot back inside the squared circle where we see Lesnar wearing his WWE Championship pacing around the ring.

Then, “Booya-kah! Booya-kah! 6-1-9!” plays as Rey Mysterio makes his way out to the entrance stage. He is introduced by the ring announcer as Cole and Graves explain why Mysterio is wearing a sling on his arm due to Lesnar’s attack on him and his son Dominik.

Mytserio’s music dies down and then Cain Velasquez’s music hits and the former UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez comes out in tight black short-spandex pants, black leather boots and UFC gloves. He makes his way to the ring accompanied by Mysterio as Cole and Graves talk about the epic Velasquez-Lesnar match from their Octagon battle in the UFC years ago.

We see a look at the Tale of the Tape as Velasquez’s music fades and the formal introductions take place for this, our opening match for the WWE Championship here at WWE Crown Jewel 2019. The fans kind of boo Velasquez. They cheer for Lesnar, who Heyman does the introduction for as the fans chant along with him and Lesnar poses with the WWE Championship proudly.

The two go at it with Velasquez using a lot of kicks and strikes early on. He ends up knocking Lesnar down with a strong head kick. As Cain followed in with ground and pound, Lesnar grabs Cain’s arm and locks in a Kimura, securing the submission victory.

After The Match

After the match, Lesnar refuses to release the Kimura, so Mysterio enters the ring to make the save. He starts hitting Lesnar with a chair but Lesnar grabs Mysterio and hoists him up. Now Mysterio is swinging away wildly with a chair, hitting him over and over and over again. Lesnar retreats with Heyman as Mysterio’s music plays and he and Cain stare Lesnar and Heyman down from the aisle. Lesnar yells “I’ll get you, Rey!”

Backstage: Tag-Team Turmoil Promos

Backstage, we see the SmackDown Tag-Team Champions The Revival, Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder, talking about their plans for tonight’s Tag-Team Turmoil. They also vow to win tonight’s match with no flips, just fists.

Then we see Heavy Machinery and they also talk about Tag-Team Turmoil. They say everyone will fall because the Raid is here.

Tag-Team Turmoil Match For WWE World Cup

Two teams will start in the ring. When one team is eliminated a new team will enter the match. This will continue until there are two teams remaining. The winning team will be victorious in the Tag-Team Turmoil match and win the WWE World Cup and be named the best tag-team in WWE.

From there, “The Glorious” entrance of Robert Roode mixed into “I’m Here to Show The World” for Dolph Ziggler plays as the first team for the match makes their way down to the ring.

Out next are their opponents in what will be the first two-on-two showdown in this multi-team contest, The Lucha House Party. They make their way to the ring and starting things off for this one will be The Lucha House Party vs. Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler.

The two teams battle until eventually, Roode hits a Glorious DDT on Gran Metalik of The Lucha House Party for the victory. With the win, Metalik and Lince Dorado are now eliminated and head to the back.

Out next are Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins. They will now face off against Roode and Ziggler, who continue in the turmoil bout immediately after their win over Lucha House Party. The bell sounds and here we go.

This one didn’t last long at all. After they hit some of their signature moves, out of the blue, Ziggler hits the Zig-Zag on Ryder for the win, eliminating he and Hawkins and allowing himself and Roode to continue in the turmoil match.

With the win, again Roode and Ziggler remain in the ring and await their next opponents. Out comes Heavy Machinery — Tucker and Otis. The bell sounds and here we go with the next match in this contest.

This one is given some time to develop and when all is said-and-done, it is a double-team Compactor by Otis and Tucker that gives Heavy Machinery the victory over Roode and Ziggler. Roode and Ziggler are now finally eliminated from the match. With the win, Heavy Machinery moves on and will immediately face the next team to come out in this Tag-Team Turmoil bout.

Now fireworks explode inside King Fahd International Stadium as out next are The New Day, as the fans in Riyadh give a big pop to the group. Big E. and Kofi Kingston will be representing the duo in this one obviously due to the Achilles tendon injury of Xavier Woods. It is New Day vs. Heavy Machinery next, as the bell sounds.

We get a bunch of comedy spots and funny stuff that gets the crowd both on their feet and laughing. Kingston gets a hot tag at one point and hits a series of cool spots in sequence, finishing with a Trouble in Paradise on Otis that sends him to the floor outside the ring. Kingston ends up giving the assist to Big E. on a Midnight Hour on Tucker for the win. Heavy Machinery is eliminated.

The fans pop as New Day celebrates the win and now out next is The B-Team — Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel. Big E. and Axel starts things off for their respective teams as the next match in this lengthy tag team turmoil contest is officially underway. This one doesn’t last that long, as a Big Ending from Big E. gives New Day another victory and eliminates The B-Team.

Next out for tag-team turmoil is the SmackDown Tag-Team Champions — The Revival — Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder. The bell sounds as New Day vs. The Revival gets underway. They mention that New Day vs. The Revival for the SmackDown Tag-Team Championships will be taking place on tomorrow night’s edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown on FOX.

They also give this one a few minutes to develop and in the end, Kofi rolls up Dawson to secure the pin fall victory for The New Day and eliminate the SmackDown Tag-Team Champions in the process.

Before the next team can even come out and continue the contest, The Revival refuses to leave and they execute a double-team beat down on both Big E. and Kofi, hitting them with their finishers and the steel ring steps in a brutal attack.

Now we see Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson out next. They don’t need much time in taking out an already weakened and beaten down Kingston and Big E. following the aforementioned attack by The Revival. They get the win and eliminate The New Day.

Out next are the RAW Tag-Team Champions — The Vikings — Erik and Ivar. Michael Cole informs us that they will be the last team entering the match, so now it is down to simply Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows vs. the RAW Tag-Team Champions, The Vikings.

This one lasts a couple of minutes, with The Vikings having their showcase moments but ultimately, things wrap up with The OC hitting Magic Killer on Erik for the 1-2-3 and the victory. With the victory, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows win the 2019 Tag-Team Turmoil match and the 2019 WWE World Cup, and are officially named “The Best Tag-Team in WWE.” They celebrate and get their World Cup trophy as highlights are shown.

Mansoor vs. Cesaro

Following the tag-team turmoil match, which lasted for quite a while, we head back to the ring for a one-on-one bout, as it’s time for Cesaro versus WWE’s first-ever Saudi Superstar, Mansoor.

Both guys make their ring entrances, the bell sounds and here we go. Early on it’s obvious that Mansoor is someone who gets mega-reactions from the fans in Saudi Arabia. He is using his speed and agility to get a good display of offense in early on.

Things continue to develop for several more minutes as these two put on an absolute pro wrestling clinic in what is one of the better matches you’ll see.

The finish comes when Mansoor counters a gutwrench power-bomb attempt off the top-rope by Cesaro with a sunset flip power bomb of his own. He follows that up with a moonsault for the pin fall victory.

After The Match

Following the victory, Mansoor talks about waking up this morning and looking in the mirror knowing that he was going to have the most important match of his career today. He admits being scared and calls this win the most important of his life.

He says he can’t wait until he sees what Saudi Superstars develop in the future and that he’s happy to fulfill his dream of being the first Saudi Superstar in WWE history.

Backstage: Seth Rollins

We see “The Architect” Seth Rollins backstage saying things end tonight. “The Fiend” brings out the worst in him and he knows there have always been mind games, but says things lately have been different.

Rollins admits things have gotten to the point where they are uncomfortable and unsettling. He says regardless of what goes down today at WWE Crown Jewel, he didn’t pick this fight and he didn’t start it, but he is going to finish it. He says he will still be the WWE Universal Champion when WWE Crown Jewel is said-and-done … no matter what it takes.

Tyson Fury vs. Braun Strowman

Up next is another one of the key featured attraction bouts on the lineup for the show, as the reigning lineal heavyweight boxing champion of planet earth, “The Gypsy King,” will step into the squared circle against one of WWE’s biggest and baddest — “The Monster Among Men” Braun Strowman.

Out first is Strowman. The big guy makes his way down to the ring here inside the King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh. Out next is his opponent, one of the baddest human beings in the world — Tyson Fury.

Fury’s entrance is complete with the over-the-top fireworks and pyro, along with him wearing the trademark Saudi robe and attire, as he gets the king’s entrance as he makes his way down to the ring for his official WWE competitive debut in one-on-one action against “The Monster Among Men.” The formal ring introductions are done and the bell sounds.

The two lock up and here we go. Strowman takes it to the corner and the referee backs him off as he puts hands on Fury. They size each other up again and lock up, going back to the ropes. Fury ducks a right hand and connects.

The two are tied up now and some more Fury counters delivers, then goes into a side headlock. Fury sends Braun back with a shoulder but Braun bounces back off the ropes and levels Fury with a huge big boot. Braun works Fury over while he’s down on the mat now. Strowman clubs Fury down and stomps. Fury gets back up but Braun drops him. Braun unloads in the corner now. Strowman with shoulder thrusts in the corner now. Strowman charges but Fury move and Braun hits the ring post shoulder-first, falling out to the floor. The referee counts. Braun goes to re-enter but Fury kicks him in the face.

The big shot sends him back to the barrier. Fury follows to the floor and Strowman rams him into the apron. Strowman drops Fury with a right hand at ringside. Strowman runs around the ring but Fury nails him with a Drive By for a pop. Fury brings it back into the ring. Fury slides out of a running powerslam attempt and hits a drop toe hold. Fury keeps control and drops Strowman again for a 2 count. Strowman rams Fury back into the corner now. More back and forth now. Fury with a big boot out of the corner. Strowman takes advantage of Fury taking his time, then slams him in the middle of the ring. They end up on the floor again and Strowman runs over Fury a second time.

As “The Monster Among Men” brings the action back inside the ring, Fury blasts him with one of his lethal right hands. Fury rocks Strowman with another right hand that sends him to the floor. Strowman can’t get up and is counted out. Fury wins.

Winner via Count Out: Tyson Fury

After The Match

Once the match is officially ruled a Count Out victory for Fury, “The Gypsy King” celebrates in the ring as highlights of the match are shown with the announcers descirbing the action.

This continues until eventually “The Monster Among Men” Braun Strowman reemerges and takes out Tyson Fury during his post-match celebration. He levels Fury and nails him with a running power slam in the ring. He leaves him laying as he heads to the back.

WWE 24/7 Championship
R-Truth (C) vs. Samir Singh (w/ Sunil Singh)

After the Fury-Strowman madness ends we shoot to a break. Once we return we see highlights of R-Truth recapturing the WWE 24/7 Championship for the 21st time by defeating Sunil Singh from The Singh Brothers during the 20-Man Battle Royal on the Kickoff Show.

This leads to a backstage segment where The Singh Brothers approach the 21-time reigning and defending WWE 24/7 Champion R-Truth. He tries to escape and runs into a door, falling flat on his ass. Samir, not Sunil, covers him. 1-2-3. We have a new WWE 24/7 Champion. The Singh Bros run off together with the WWE 24/7 title belt.

WWE United States Championship
AJ Styles (C) vs. Humberto Carrillo

Following that “match” and title change, we head back inside King Fahd International Stadium for our next real match of the evening. This one also extends from the 20-Man Battle Royal from the Kickoff Show earlier in the show, as Humberto Carrillo, the man who emerged victorious in the match, is now getting his shot at the WWE U.S. Title currently held by “The Phenomenal One.”

Out comes Styles accompanied by the 2019 WWE World Cup winners and “The Best Tag-Team in WWE,” The OC — Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, who are carrying their World Cup trophy in-hand. Out next is Styles’ opponent for this U.S. title defense, the 20-Man Battle Royal winner Humberto Carrillo. The bell sounds and here we go.

The two exchange some back-and-forth action early on, with Carrillo actually managing to hold his own in the early goings. Eventually Styles takes over the offensive lead in the contest.

After showing some signs of life, Carrillo continues to get dominated by the veteran. Styles goes for the Styles Clash but Carrillo fights it off. Styles catches him in the Calf Crusher but Carrillo eventually makes it to the ropes to force the hold to be broken.

Carrillo is trying to make a comeback but keeps selling his knee following the aforementioned Calf Crusher spot. He misses a moonsault leading to Styles blasting him with a Phenomenal Forearm for the win. With the victory, Styles retains the title.

Backstage: Hulk Hogan

After the Styles-Carrillo match we shoot backstage where we see Byron Saxton with WWE Hall Of Famer Hulk Hogan. “The Hulkster” says that after 35 years, he is going to finally “put this thing with Ric Flair to rest.” He talks about getting his team ready for the Team Hogan vs. Team Flair match here at WWE Crown Jewel, brother.

First-Ever Women’s Match In Saudi Arabia
Natalya vs. Lacey Evans

Now, like WWE often does, it is time to make history. For the first time ever, women will be competing inside the squared circle in Saudi Arabia, as Natalya and Lacey Evans go one-on-one next in the historic contest.

Pyro explodes as Natalya makes her way to the ring first for this groundbreaking match. Out next is her opponent, Lacey Evans. As reported coming into this show, both girls are wearing “full body suits” of sorts, as there arms and legs are covered. The two shake hands and the bell sounds to start off this first-ever women’s match in the history of Saudi Arabia.

Lacey applauds Natalya after a stalemate and they shake hands again. They tangle on the mat some more as the feeling out process continues, Cole says. Fans chant “this is awesome!” as they trade holds and counters again. More back and forth for several minutes. Natalya goes for a Sharpshooter but it’s blocked. Natalya sends Evans to the floor. Evans takes the knee out on the apron and comes back in. Evans launches her boots into Natalya’s face and covers for a 2 count.

Now Evans keeps Natalya grounded in the middle of the ring now. They break and Evans launches herself from the apron over the top, dropping an elbow on Natalya in the middle of the ring. Evan with another 2 count. Evans keeps Natalya grounded again. Evans takes Natalya back down and drops a knee. More back and forth. Evans with a neckbreaker. Natalya comes back with some of her signature moves now. Natalya goes for the Sharpshooter but it’s blocked.

Finally we work towards the finish of this historic contest, as Natalya locks Lacey in the Sharpshooter. Evans taps out and Nattie picks up the “W” via submission.

Winner: Natalya

After The Match

Following the match, Nattie posed to the Saudi fans while her music played. Lacey and Nattie embrace, soaking in the historic moment they just created as the first-ever women’s match in Saudi Arabian history. They get emotional as the fans applaud.

Team Hogan vs. Team Flair

It is time for the Team Hogan vs. Team Flair showdown. On Team Hogan will be Roman Reigns, Rusev, Ricochet, Shorty G and Ali. Meanwhile “The Nature Boy’s” team will consist of Randy Orton, King Corbin, Bobby Lashley, Shinsuke Nakamura and Drew McIntyre.

“The Nature Boy” makes his grand entrance, which includes the bells and whistles you’d like to see when ‘Naitch makes his way to the ring. Out next are the members of Team Flair.

Now, “Real American” hits the loud speakers inside King Fahd International Stadium as Hulkamania is about to run wild on Riyadh here in Saudi Arabia at WWE Crown Jewel. His team members come out next, including Roman Reigns, who gets the big spectacle pyro and fireworks when he makes his entrance.

Byron Saxton has joined Michael Cole and Corey Graves at ringside at the announce table for commentary for this ten-man contest.

Ali was isolated by the heel team for a portion of the match. Ali finally broke free from McIntyre and tagged in Ricochet, who takes the hot tag as an opportunity to showcase his unique, individual style of explosive, fast-paced innovative offense.

Now, Ricochet goes back to the top but misses thanks to Corbin. Corbin with another cheap shot on Ali as Drew nails an Alabama Slam while The Viper and Lashley have the referee’s attention diverted.

The Naitch taunted Hogan from the other side of the ring. Ricochet made a hot tag to Reigns, who worked over each of his opponents, which was well received by the live crowd. Reigns hit Orton with a Superman Punch and had him pinned, but it was broken up by other Team Flair members.

From there, it was rapid fire spot time, only with the Team Flair crew dominating. Rusev cleared all the other heels to get to Lashley. They traded punches in the middle of the ring. Rusev got the better of it, but then charged Lashley, who held the top rope down, causing Rusev to bumped to the floor.

Reigns hit Lashley with a Superman Punch and then performed a dive over the top rope and onto the other heels at ringside. Cole said there’s a reason Reigns was chosen as the captain of Team Hogan (yes, Rollins ended up double booked). Orton caught Reigns with an RKO for a very good near fall. Orton stood over Reigns and then set up for his punt kick. Shorty G grabbed Orton’s leg. Ali and Ricochet performed stereo dives onto heels. Reigns speared and pinned Orton picking up the win for Team Hogan.

After the match we get the “feel good moment” post-match celebration from “The Hulkster” and Roman Reigns, with Hogan telling “The Big Dog” that he knew he would pull it off. We then shoot to an ad for WrestleMania 36 next year.

WWE Universal Championship (Falls Count Anywhere)
Seth Rollins (C) vs. “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt

Remember, in this main event for the WWE Universal Championship rematch between “The Architect” Seth Rollins and “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt — there will be Falls Count Anywhere in the building or outside the building, and there must be a winner as the match will not be stopped for any reason — literally.

After the video package telling the story for this one airs, we head back inside the stadium in Riyadh as the WWE Universal Champion makes his way to the ring. As the lights turn red, “The Fiend” makes his chilling entrance to the ring (see photos below). The two stare each other down and as the red lights remain, the match officially gets underway.

It Is “The Fiend” enjoying a comfortable offensive lead early on. Rollins is getting dominated from pillar to post with relative ease from the challenger thus far. Rollins starts showing signs of life in quick hope spots, all of which “The Fiend” keep cutting short before continuing his dominance on “The Architect.”

Wyatt beats him down while he was busy with that. Rollins fights back and grabs a sledgehammer. The announcers point out how this ruined things at WWE Hell In A Cell. Wyatt grabs Rollins with the Mandible Claw to avoid sledgehammer damage.

Well, he gets some anyways as Rollins hits him with the Sledgehammer while still in the Mandible Claw. Like a monster out of a horror movie, no matter what Rollins does, The Fiend keeps the Mandible Claw on and is now starting to really go to work on dominating and beating down Rollins with his malicious assault on the reigning and defending WWE Universal Champion as the fight has spilled out near the announce team at ringside.

Rollins moves and Wyatt puts himself through a table. Rollins covers him but somehow The Fiend still kicks out at only the count of one. Highlights are shown of Wyatt going through the table. Rollins capitalizes on a grounded Fiend, beating him repeatedly with a steel chair, as he is willing to do and use anything at his disposal to get The Fiend out of his life. Wyatt ends up knocking Rollins, who was on the apron, backwards first crashing through the stack of tables that Rollins had set up outside the ring earlier in the contest.

The fans break out into a “This Is Awesome! This Is Awesome!” chant as highlights are shown of Rollins violently crashing through the stacked tables. The Fiend finds his way over to Rollins on the floor and starts stomping him down, putting the boots to him. Now The Fiend is yanking up the padded mats that surround the floor around the ring to expose the concrete that is underneath it.

Things escalate to Wyatt beating down Rollins as they go up the ramp. Rollins ends up taking over and delivering five stomps to The Fiend on the steel stage. He then super kicks him off the stage and The Fiend crashes through some production equipment. Rollins goes down to check on him or finish him but can’t find him. Out of nowhere, The Fiend appears from behind Rollins like a monster movie. He puts Rollins in the Mandible Claw and then hits Sister Abigail. “The Fiend” is the NEW WWE Universal Champion.

After The Match

The lights go out as Wyatt rocks back and forth in a seated position at the entrance stage where he just won. When they come back on it’s dark as hell still, but a strobe light flashes and we see “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt standing now and holding the WWE Universal Championship belt high in the air. From there, we see a clean shot of the King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia decked out in slick WWE production as Michael Cole thanks us for watching and wraps up the show.
