Zach Sanders takes silver, Tony Nelson bronze at Bill Farrell International in New York
NEW YORK – Minnesota Training Center and Minnesota Storm athletes Zach Sanders and Tony Nelson will return to Minnesota with medals after the Bill Farrell Memorial International finished up on Sunday at the New York Athletic Club in New York City.
At 57kg, Sanders finished with a silver medal after winning four matches to reach the final. Tyler Graff would quickly pick off Sanders 10-0 to win the gold. He opened up with a 5-4 win over Jered Cortez before getting by Japan’s Rei Kuwaki 2-1. In the quarterfinals, it was another tight win by Sanders, a 2-0 decision over Frank Perrelli. In the semifinals, Sanders topped upstart Ali Naser 7-0. Naser had earlier defeated 2012 Olympian Sam Hazewinkel. Continue reading at www.mtcstorm.com
