Eli Drake Talking With WWE, Flair Taunts Rousey, AAF Going Under

It was reported not too long ago that Impact Wrestling star Eli Drake’s deal with the promotion is coming close to expiring. WWE has supposedly had their sights set on signing Drake for a while now, so perhaps unsurprisingly, the two sides have entered discussions. Drake himself revealed on The Wrestling Perspective podcast that he is friends with some of the talent and coaches in WWE, but hasn’t received an offer and he is considering all of his options right now, and that includes possibly re-signing with Impact. Drake worked for WWE as Shaun Ricker until he was released in 2014. Following his release, he joined Impact Wrestling and became a world champion in the promotion. Drake’s Impact contract is set to expire on May 31st. 
“I mean, I’ve talked to people there that I’m friendly with, or, whatever, certain coaches that I’m friendly with and stuff like that. Definitely, people have been like, ‘I think you would do well here,’ but nobody has overtly made me an offer. There was nothing like that.” Drake said.
Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, and Ronda Rousey were supposed to not get physical with each other until their match at WrestleMania 35. However, they simply could not wait to get their hands on each other, and that led to a segment last night which saw all three women end up in handcuffs following a huge brawl. One of the most brutal moments of the fight came when Flair hit Rousey with her knee, causing her to smack her head against the police car door. Flair poked fun at the current Raw Women’s Champion earlier today by posting a screenshot of the moment in question while referencing Rousey pointing out that wrestling is pre-determined. The Triple Threat match involving these ladies takes place at WrestleMania this Sunday.

The XFL still has yet to launch, but it may have already lost one of its biggest competitors. Darren Rovell has just reported that the Alliance of American Football will be suspending operations in the near future. The decision came from Tom Dundon, who was recently appointed president of the league. Dundon apparently wanted to turn the league into a feeder system for the NFL, which is different from what co-founders Charlie Ebersol and Bill Polian had in mind for the league. Following Ebersol’s ESPN 30 for 30 special on the original XFL, he had plans to launch the AAF and develop it before turning it into a feeder system. The league in operation for just eight weeks. However, this is good news for Vince McMahon, who is still set to relaunch the XFL in 2020.
