PC Mohanan, the acting chairperson of the National Statistical Commission and JV Meenakshi a member of the organization have resigned from their respective positions over what is being described “disagreements” with the government.

According to reports, the duo, who had a tenure till 2020 resigned from NSC on Monday, leaving the autonomous body with just two members, Chief Statistician Pravin Srivastava and NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant.

The two external members walked out of the NSC after what they allege is a delay from the part of the government in the publication of the National Sample Survey Office’s (NSSO’s) employment survey for 2017-18.
