Marquinhos: “As we often say, football is a team sport. But when the team is strong, it is the individuals that shine.”

Speaking to RMC Sport after captaining PSG to a 4-1 victory at the Camp Nou over Barcelona, Marquinhos urged for calm.

“It is an enormous, tonight is a success. We are bringing a victory home, with four goals as well. We are learning from our mistakes. We have to remain humble, simple. There are still 90 minutes of a great battle to come. Between now and then, we have aims to attain, especially in Ligue 1. The season is not over. We must continue to work. If we continue like this, with this attitude, there are some wonderful things for us to go after. When we play like a compact team, as a block, with personality, we can do wonderful things. We need to keep this spirit. We can’t just pull this out in the big moments. We need to find this consistency to have a very high level of play.”

On Kylian Mbappé:

He shone. Everyone is happy with his performance. When Kylian shines in the big matches, he makes the difference. He brought us this victory. As we often say, football is a team sport. But when the team is strong, it is the individuals that shine.
