Presnel Kimpembe recovering slowly from injury and set to miss Ligue 1 return
L’Équipe are reporting that Presnel Kimpembe’s (27) recovery from an achilles tendon injury is slower than expected and the Paris Saint-Germain defender is set to miss the return of Ligue 1.
Kimpembe was in a race to be fit for the World Cup in order to help France defend their crown. Having suffered a muscular injust in late September, he returned in late October before suffering a fresh injury against ESTAC Troyes. Despite the injury concerns, Kimpembe was still called up by Didier Deschamps, and in the final Ligue 1 game before the mid-season break, the centre-back came off the bench to play in the final minutes of a comfortable PSG victory against Auxerre.
However, just days later, Kimpembe was deemed insufficiently fit to make the trip to Qatar and subsequently replaced by Axel Disasi. Three weeks later and Kimpember is struggling to recover from the injury. He is still suffering from the tendon injury, whilst he is also feeling discomfort in his other achilles tendon.
His recovery is happening slowly, and it looks unlikely that he will feature again for PSG in 2022, according to L’Équipe. The reigning Ligue 1 champions face Strasbourg at the Parc des Princes on 28th December.
