Eric Elwood back in rugby as domestic manager with Connacht
FORMER HEAD COACH Eric Elwood has today been announced as they new domestic manager in Connacht rugby after a season and a half out of the game.
Elwood will take up the role in January, leaving a job he held in the pharmaceutical industry.
Having moved from a playing career in to coaching, Elwood admits that overseeing the domestic scene will be a change of pace for him, but the 35-cap international is excited about the opportunity:
“It will certainly be different for me but that is what excites me about it,” Elwood said.
“Connacht Rugby has been a huge part of my life and I have always understood the importance of the domestic game in the future of Connacht Rugby as a whole. I am looking forward to working with Willie [Ruane, CEO] and everyone in the domestic game in what is a truly exciting period for rugby in the West of Ireland.”
In the statement released by the province, Ruane said:

“Eric will be responsible for growing the game of rugby across the entire province from grass roots level. He is someone with huge knowledge and passion for the game and for Connacht Rugby in particular and we are delighted to have him back involved in the organisation.”
